Adobe Digital Foundation technological components
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a cloud service is a native cloud solution, running in AWS or Azure. By utilizing Cloud Manager, organizations can manage their AEM instances in the cloud. Cloud Manager includes a CI/CD pipeline, flexible deployment models, and "autoscaling" of required resources to absorb peak loads without impacting their performance or security. This also allows them to deploy enhancements faster, including updates and also new developments. Part of the CI/CD pipeline is a thorough code scan, which ensures that only high-quality applications reach the production environment.
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Sites is the digital foundation for quickly creating, managing, and delivering personalized, engaging content to your website visitors. AEM provides an intuitive drag-and-drop user interface, preconfigured components, and a user-friendly template editor to help you deliver content quickly and with minimal effort. Working with Target and Analytics, AEM delivers a page with a placeholder and Target determines the content that is to be delivered. Our implementation approach follows the principle of lean and agile development and includes a number of best practices for project management. Scrum is our preferred methodology here.
Many requirements are often only roughly described or specified from a technology-neutral perspective at the beginning of the project. That is why we would start your project with a number of workshops to define your requirements. Our product owners help you to ensure that your requirements are formulated correctly and written in user stories with acceptance criteria. Some requirements can only be defined after the project has started and result from the workshops, designs and technical collaboration within the Scrum process. In the first few weeks, there will probably still be many open issues that will be designed during your project. All open questions should be clarified quickly.
Design of your website
Implementation of a clear, appealing and functional design. If there is already a CD for your web presence, it will be adopted. Missing designs will be completed if necessary. We focus on presenting complex content in easily understandable designs.
Building the user experience of your website
The Core Components are a framework of components provided and maintained by Adobe to build the user experience of a website. The first step is to match all available AEM Core Components with the design of your new website. Available Core Components include Title, Text, Image, Button, Teaser, Download, Separator, List, Embed, Sharing, Video, and more.
The same procedure is recommended before implementing the templates.
To go-live with a MVP in the short amount of time available for the project, the implementation should be as close to the standard of Core Components as possible.
Special requirements can be implemented by extending existing core components or by developing your own personalized "custom components".
Extension of the components with visual variants
The style system can be used to display different visual variations of a component. Content authors can therefore select the look and feel of a component when editing it.
The advantage: Same CI, same functionality, one codebase and uniform frontend architecture. This eliminates the need to develop a separate component for each style or to customize the component dialog. Within the project we provide a style system with up to 3 styles.
Providing templates that describe the structure and content of a website (home, landing page, etc.).
Editable templates allow specially authorized "power users" to create templates, edit them and make configurations. There will be several templates made available to your organization, which are matched with your requirements in the first phase of your project.

At the beginning of your project, workshops are held with your related business units, plus your IT and marketing departments. In these workshops, all of your challenges are discussed from your customers’ points of view. A conceptual framework is defined that defines your solution scope. All of your requirements for a solution are described from your customers’ perspective. Furthermore, visual and functional requirements are compared with the existing AEM Core Components. Then, ideas for solving your problem are collected, evaluated, and prioritized. We settle on one idea and do not merge all of the ideas into one big idea. The goal of your project is to implement an MVP that provides your customers with value.
Based on the existing Corporate Design (CD) we create designs for the structure of your pages and components. If there is already a CD for your web presence, it will be adopted. Missing designs will be added if necessary. We focus on presenting complex content in easy-to-understand designs. The result of this phase is an effective and efficient concept (UX) and design (UI) based on a design tool such as Adobe XD.
A pattern library (e.g. based on a Storybook) is created from your concept. The pattern library provides the development team with all the necessary functions to centrally manage and provide all of your design elements. The Storybook contains all of the display options for your components (background color, responsive grid, teaser characteristics, arrangements, etc.).
In the case where your special requirements are not covered by standard Core Components, Adobe Core Components can be functionally extended, or components can also be developed from scratch. Extensions and new developments can be implemented flexibly and with all the possibilities of web technology. If standard components are used, they can be utilized without great effort. The result of this phase is a fully comprehensive set of components and templates with which your website’s user experience can be built, established and ensured.
In this phase, your content authors are trained so that they can build a complete experience of the website based on the available tool kit. The website is usually built by the customer, our support will always be available to you.
In this phase we enable you to analyze your users’ behavior via Adobe Analytics and to personalize their web experience via Adobe Target and optimize it via A/B tests.
Now nothing stands in the way of your go-live. With your go-live, you have a completely unique web experience that can be scaled and extended as you require. Based on your website that has just gone live, further product ideas can be developed, your future roadmap can be defined and further developments can take place.
